  • When I run a report in Excel or PDF, nothing is displayed.
    Answer: Configure your browser to allow Cognos Reports to popup.

  • What browsers are compatible with Cognos?
    Answer:
    ICT recommends the following browsers:
    – Apple Safari on iOS (5.0)
    – Microsoft Internet Explorer (7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10, 11)
    – Mozilla Firefox (ESR 24, ESR 31)
  • I get the following error:  Invalid namespace was selected.
    Answer 1: This is a session issue.  Close all of your browser windows.  After all browsers have been closed, start a new browser and try again.
    Answer 2: This is a session issue.  If you are using Internet Explorer, start a new browser session by going to File > New Session.  If you don’t see the IE menu bar, first click the [Alt] and [f] keys at the same time.
  • I get an ‘undefined’ popup message in Internet Explorer.
    Answer:  Add ‘nmsu.edu’ to the Compatibility View Settings in Internet Explorer.
    Go to Tools > Compatibility View Settings to add ‘nmsu.edu’.   If you don’t see the IE menu bar, first click the [Alt] and [f] keys at the same time.
  • I am experiencing an odd display in my Internet Explorer browser.

  • When I run a report in Excel 2007 from a portlet in Internet Explorer, the output doesn’t display, or quickly shows and disappears.
    Answer: Use one of the following workarounds.
    – Go to the downloads folder (CTRL+J or ‘Tools > View downloads’)
    – Use Firefox
